In the 1950's, the company moved into the production of plastic handles and at the same time began manufacturing pressed, stamped, and drawn metal parts, particularly for automotive production. At the end of the 1990's, production plants were set up in Nowa Sól (Poland) and Sta. Margarida (Spain). A plant in Hungary, a second plant in Poland and new plants in China and Mexico followed.
Engineering centers were also established in France, the USA and Sweden. With the sale of the handle division in 2003, the company focused on the development of lightweight automotive technologies and chassis components. In 2016, the GEDIA Automotive Group grew by two new locations - Michigan (USA) and Pune (India).
In June 2018, the go-ahead was given for the construction of the new “Askay II” production plant, which went into operation in 2019. In 2022, a new production plant in Georgia (USA) was integrated into the production network. Both German and American OEMs are supplied with body components from there.
